Unsurprisingly Gravity and American Hustle both faired well in this year’s nominations with 10 Nominees each while 12 Years A Slave managed 9 nominee including Best Director for Steve McQueen and Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor.  Dallas Buyers Club also did well as something of a dark horse with Matthew McConaughey bagging a Best Actor nominee as well as Jared Leto getting a Best Supporting Actor.  Meanwhile Jennifer Lawrence became the youngest actress to ever be nominated three times for her performances in American Hustle having won Best Actress last year for Silver Linings Playbook and her other nomination for Winter’s Bone.  For the full list of nominees have a look below, did they get it right?  Should Tom Hanks have got a nomination for Captain Phillips alongside his co-star Barkhad Abdi?  Source – Oscar.com

Alex Moss Editor

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
