Drew Goddard, the co-writer and director of The Cabin In The Woods, is heading to Mars for The Martian. Goddard is in talks with 20th Century Fox to come onboard the project which is being described as a cross between Cast Away and Apollo 13, someone call Tom Hanks’ agent to see if he’s available. The film will see a space explorer stranded on Mars and desperately trying to find a way back to Earth before his supplies run out. While it sounds similar in themes and concept to Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming George Clooney / Sandra Bullock starrer Gravity, The Wrap suggest it takes a different approach to the stranded in space routine. Goddard recently did some re-writes on Brad Pitt’s World War Z and has also been involved in re-drafting Robopocalypse for Steven Spielberg. Source – The Wrap
