Alicia Vikander, the star of films such as A Royal Affair and Anna Karenina, is changing from period dramas to sci-fi with the potential of starring in Alex Garland’s Ex Machina. Garland, who wrote sci-fi fare such as Dredd, Never Let Me Go and Sunshine, is making his directorial debut on the film. Ex Machina will see Domhnall Gleeson as a young employee of billionaire Oscar Isaac. Asked to the billionaire’s mansion to test new technology, he soon discovers the technology in question is a highly advanced female robot. Vikander is in talks to take on the role of the female robot and if she signs will see her star opposite her Anna Karenina star Gleeson for a second time. Before that she’ll be seen in The Seventh Son opposite Julianne Moore and Julian Assange movie The Fifth Estate. Source – The Wrap
