There’s a scene in an episode of The Big Bang Theory in which Dr. Sheldon Cooper turns to someone and says “Why wasn’t William Shatner in the new Star Trek Movie?”.  Well it seems Dr. Cooper could be about to see his wish come true as William Shatner himself, aka Captain Kirk, let slip that the producers of Star Trek 3 have been in contact with him.

Of course it wouldn’t be the first time the re-booted Star Trek franchise allowed classic Star Trek characters to make appearances as Leonard Nimoy has twice returned as an older version of Zachary Qunito’s Spock.  Talking at the Wizard World Nashville convention Shatner told listeners that the producers of the film, which includes director of the first two films and now a certain Star Wars director JJ Abrams, that they would like to bring him back.  Shatner, while clearly interested, said that he’d be delighted to if they could come up with a good story, for which he isn’t sure there is one.

Of course Mr. Shatner may have done himself a disservice in announcing this as Abrams and his team are notorious for keeping all plot and casting details as under-wraps as possible.  Star Trek 3 doesn’t officially have a director at the moment but it is assumed that co-writer of the first two films Robert Orci will sit in the chair to call the shots.  Studio Paramount are anxious that the next film come out in 2016 to coincide with Star Trek’s 50th Anniversary – which gives all the more credence to why the filmmakers would want Shatner to, if nothing else, have a cameo role.  Source – Comic

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email:
