OBEX Unboxing

With recent films like the breakthrough hit Hundreds of Beavers and Ben Wheatley’s recent sci-fi love letter Bulk, there’s certainly been a resurgence in DIY filmmaking. Albert Birney’s OBEX, a mash-up of old school video games and analogue David Lynch surrealism, is another low-budget passion project that is destined for cult classic status. Best experienced blind, there’s nothing quite like OBEX – a nostalgic love letter to a bygone era of technology, and to retro video game adventures.

Synopsis

Conor Marsh lives a secluded life with his dog, Sandy, until one day he begins playing OBEX, a new, state-of-the-art computer game. When Sandy disappears, the line between reality and gaming blurs, and Conor must enter the world of OBEX to save her.

OBEX is available on Digital and Blu-ray from Lightbulb Film Distribution
