Samuel LoveThe Thicket, starring Peter Dinklage, brings Joe R. Lansdale’s acclaimed novel to the screen with gritty charm and visual flair. The book – one of my favourites – blends dark Western adventure with Lansdale’s signature mix of black humor, violence, and heart. While this film adaptation doesn’t fully capture the wild energy of the source, it stands as a solid interpretation, elevated by atmospheric cinematography and strong performances across the board. A must for fans of the genre.
Synopsis
Fierce bounty hunter Reginald Jones is recruited by a desperate man to track down a ruthless killer known only as Cutthroat Bill. To do so, he rallies a band of unlikely heroes including a grave-digging ex-slave and a street-smart woman-for-hire. Together they embark on a perilous quest to track down Cutthroat Bill that leads them into the deadly “no-man’s-land” known as…The Thicket.
