London Short Film Festival 2013

Celebrating its 10th edition, the London Short Film Festival 2013 proves that it’s no small measure with ten days of dedicated short cinema.

Celebrating its 10th
edition, the London Short Film Festival 2013 proves that it’s no small measure
with ten days of dedicated short cinema.

The event focuses on UK filmmakers, showing their work
across some of London’s most prestigious independent cinemas and venues with
the accompaniment of live music, parties and performances.

This year’s festival includes Urban Shorts and London Lives,
a special Cinema Club that studies the many layers of city. The club spans two
days, with the 9th of January focusing on documentaries, and the 10th
on fiction. Hosted at Museum of London
Docklands
, expect a more sinister examination of the city, with subjects
ranging from kebab shops to the notorious 2011 London riots. Notably mentioned
of this year’s programme is Calum
Macdiarmid’s 82
(Main Picture), which features actor/director Nick Moran as a postman inviting
viewers into his dark suburban surroundings (read our interview with Nick Moran HERE
)

The festival received over 12,000 submissions for its 2013
programme, and with the unfortunate demise of Rushes Shorts festival earlier this year has grown vastly in
popularity, storming social media and turned to Crowd-Funding to help raise
funds for it’s already infamously low budget.

A pinnacle for young talent hoping to carve a path in
filmmaking, with industry and training events making up part of the festival’s
diverse programme, London Short Film Festival has quickly risen to become a
significant event in the film calendar.

The full programme has yet to be announced, but you can find
news and updates at the festival homepage HERE

London Short Film
Festival will be held from the 4th to the 13th of January 2013.
