Michael Unboxing

Despite being generally panned by critics as being a sanitised, hagiographic arse-kissing of the controversial pop star, Michael grossed $1.021 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing biographical film of all time. For anyone not blindly loyal to Michael Jackson, this is a nauseatingly lazy and cowardly film that refuses to acknowledge the elephant in the room or the skeletons in the closet, instead offering a saccharine tribute that feels disingenuous. Now available at home, Jackson’s army of loyal devotees can enjoy thinking their perfect hero never did anything wrong, again and again in sparkling 4K UHD.

Synopsis

MICHAEL is the cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known. The film tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of The Jackson 5, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fuelled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world. Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins.
