Following the sell-out success of its first edition last year, the 2nd
Argentine Film Festival, London returns this coming April and expands to 3
venues: Ritzy Cinema, Hackney Picturehouse and Cineworld Haymarket.
The festival, which launches on Malbec
World Day April 17th, will continue with the Ritzy as its flagship venue,
where it will screen an expanded programme of 10 outstanding contemporary
features from and about Argentina.
Further screenings will take place across Hackney Picturehouse and Cineworld
Haymarket, and the programme will also include a selection of short films from
Argentina’s most exciting new directors, as well as live music and other
special events.
“We are delighted to be back for our second edition, and look forward to
introducing Argentine cinema to new audiences in Hackney and the West End,”
said Sofia Serbin de Skalon, the
Argentine Film Festival’s Director “The success of the festival last year
proved there is a receptive audience for Argentine films in London. With these
new sites we hope to further connect with local communities, while at the same
time continuing to develop our partnership with the Picturehouse, and Cineworld
chains, and consolidating a space for high-quality Argentine films to be seen
in the UK.
Last year’s festival included an
impressive collection of documentaries, dramas, comedies and silent films,
covering an expansive field of Argentinean cinema across its history.
The full programme for the 2nd Argentine Film Festival will be announced
