Iranian-American film director Ana Lily Amirpour weaves an innovative and enthralling tale teeming with originality and beauty for her killer feature debut. With a film-noir feel and stylish aesthetic, A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT is blessed with powerful performances by Shelia Vand (Argo, The Highway is for Gamblers, Funhouse) as ‘The Girl’, Arash Marandi as hipster Arash and Mozhan Marnò (The Blacklist, House of Cards) as the prostitute; Atti.
Channelling Sergio Leone and David Lynch, A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT premiered at Sundance 2014 to much acclaim, was lauded at the London Film Festival and picked up a nomination at the 2015 Glasgow Film Festival.
Strange things are afoot in Bad City. The Iranian ghost town – home to prostitutes, junkies, pimps and other sordid souls – is a place that reeks of death and hopelessness, where a lonely vampire is stalking the town’s most unsavoury inhabitants. But when boy meets girl, an unusual love story begins to blossom…blood red.
A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT basks in the sheer pleasure of pulp. Amped by an eclectic and hypnotising soundtrack featuring a cool mix of Iranian rock, techno and Morricone-inspired riffs, this indie cult break-out is one of the most talked about of the year.
