Benicio Del Toro Joins Guardians Of The Galaxy

Benicio Del Toro, last seen on villainy duties in Savages and soon to be seen in Jimmy P, has joined the cast of The Guardians Of The Galaxy.  Just yesterday it was announced that former Dr. Who companion Karen Gillan had joined the cast as a bad girl for the Guardians to worry about but Del Toro’s character is being kept under wraps by Marvel and director James Gunn.  Deadline are reporting that Del Toro has signed a multi-picture deal akin to Samuel L. Jackson’s deal at Marvel meaning he will pop up in numerous and varied Marvel projects.  Del Toro joins the likes of Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace and the still unofficially signed on Zoe Saldana.  Pratt will star as a pilot who ends up joining a team of space prisoners who becomes the Guardians of the Galaxy due to them possessing a weapon that everyone wants to get their hands on.  Before he heads off to space, or more precisely the UK where Guardians is filming, Del Toro has recently joined the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice.  Source – Deadline

Alex Moss Editor

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
