Beverly Hills Cop 4 Confirmed With New Director

In News by Alex Moss Editor

A fourth instalment in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise has been in the pipeline for some time.  Most recently Eddie Murphy tried to find a home for Axel Foley on TV but the pilot was never picked up.  Now it seems the film is well and truly incoming with news that Brett Ratner has been confirmed to direct the film once he’s finished work on his latest project Hercules: The Thracian Warrior which stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Ratner of course directed the Rush Hour films which share a lot of DNA with the Beverly Hills Cop films and has also worked with Murphy in the past on Tower Heist and of course their proposed Oscar ceremony which all fell through after Ratner made some ill-advised comments.  Ratner was actually approached to direct the fourth film in the franchise some four years ago but the project became stuck in development.  Original Beverly Hills producer Jerry Bruckheimer will return to the franchise as will Murphy to reprise his role as the fast talking cop.  Fun fact: Axel Foley was originally going to be played by either Sylvester Stallone or Mickey Rourke.  Source – Deadline
