Chris Pine Joins Z For Zachariah

Chris Pine, having just gone Into Darkness with Star Trek, is clearly a man in demand.  Yesterday he was confirmed for Joe Carnahan’s Stretch and potentially heading Into The Woods for Rob Marshall’s musical and now comes news he’s set to star opposite Tobey Maguire, Amanda Seyfried and Chiwetel Ejiofor in Z For Zachariah.  Based on the book by Robert O’Brien, the story will see Seyfried as a teenage girl living on and maintaining a farm with the only breathable air for miles around after a nuclear fallout.  Her world changes though when two strangers stumble out of the forest and onto her farm.  At first she hopes to find companionship with these men but soon realises nothing is quite what it seems.  Maguire is also on producing duties for this one with Compliance director Craig Zobel calling the shots from the script written by Nassir Modi.  Maguire can be seen in cinemas from today in The Great Gatsby while Seyfried is currently working with Seth MacFarlane on A Millions Ways To Die In The West.  Chiwetel will next be seen in Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years A Slave and Pine will star opposite Keira Knightley in Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan.  Source – Variety

Alex Moss Editor

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
