Chris Pine To Stretch & Head Into The Woods

Chris Pine, the man currently going boldly as Captain Kirk in Star Trek Into Darkness, is set to take a small role in Joe Carnahan’s next film Stretch.  The film sees Patrick Wilson as a man in desperate need of a financial boost to help ease his debts.  When a billionaire is looking for a limo driver Wilson sees this as a prime opportunity but underestimated just how much of a horrible boss the billionaire was going to be.  Pine’s role is said to be more akin to a cameo and is something of a thank you to the director who helped launch Pine as more of an action man with his stand-out role in Smokin’ Aces.

In other Pine related news it’s possible he, along with Jake Gyllenhaal, could be heading Into The Woods with Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep.  While neither actor has actually entered talks yet it seems both have sung for director Rob Marshall and are expected to be offered the parts of the film’s pompous princes.  The story, based on Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Broadway Musical, sees James Corden’s childless baker heading into the woods to find the witch, to be played by Meryl Streep, who put a curse on his family.  On his journey he encounters all manner of fairytale folk including the likes of Jack And The Beanstalk, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Band Wolf who is being played by Johnny Depp.  Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film.  Before all that though Pine will be seen in another big franchise re-launch in the shape of Jack Ryan.  Source – The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter

Alex Moss Editor

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
