Samuel LoveDjango Shoots First, directed by Alberto De Martino, is one of the earliest of over 30 “sequels” to the original Django film – released the very same year. Featuring all of the hallmarks of the ‘spaghetti western’ genre, Django Shoots First is hardly a lost masterpiece or something that could be thought of in anywhere near the same league as the classics. But it’s great fun, with bar fights and shootouts galore. A wonderful throwback to the golden era of quick, cheaply-made Westerns – now in grainy, gritty 4K UHD from StudioCanal as part of their Cult Classics line.
Synopsis
After Django finds his father’s body in the possession of a bounty hunter, Django kills the bounty hunter and heads for the town of Silver Creek to collect the reward money for himself. When Django learns his father owned half of the town, he sets out to claim his rightful inheritance from his father’s crooked, double-crossing business partner.
