Much like their Agents are Forever release, EuroArts’ Boasting stellar performances of pieces from Blade Runner, Interstellar, and more, the film is packed with recognisable tunes played with incredible skill and a clear love for the material by Danish National Symphony Orchestra, as conducted by the adorably excitable Antony Hermus.
Beautifully staged with incredible lighting – captured remarkably well in the recording – the concert is a mind-blowing experience that must’ve been something to behold live in person. Still, the recording is thrilling enough in itself. The film’s PCM Stereo track brings the music to life excellently, with the closing Star Wars suite especially exciting and emotional in equal measure.
Above all, this film is a tribute to the sci-fi genre and all of the unforgettable, immortal sounds that go along with them. I defy anyone to hear The Imperial March without getting a warm feeling of love for the joy of cinema in their heart. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra are an incredibly talented group, while the featured soloists – Tuva Semmingsen, Christine Nonbo Andersen, Steffen Bruun, and David Bateson – each add incredible new dimensions to the performance.
Galaxymphony II is a film bursting with love for cinema, with some of the finest pieces of film music performed with real passion and skill. It is truly out-of-this-world, and feels like the ultimate tribute to one of the most beloved genres of film.
