Here Comes The Summer With House Of Gucci

Take a sprinkle of unashamedly upbeat disco classics, add a splash of guilty-pleasure ‘90s pop, and a dash of ‘I don’t know what that is, but I like it’…. and what you get is a toe-twitching collection of Music From the Motion Picture House Of Gucci.

In cinemas now, House Of Gucci is inspired by the shocking true story of the family behind the Italian fashion empire.

When Patrizia Reggiani, an outsider from humble beginnings, marries into the Gucci family, her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family legacy and triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately…murder. This riveting tale is set against the glamorous backdrop of high fashion and high finance, with utterly captivating music to match.

The film spans three turbulent decades, beginning in the 1970s, as is reflected in the supeb soundtrack, which features classic hits from Donna Summer, Blondie, Walter Murphy’s disco instrumental ‘A Fifth Of Beethoven,’ Bowie, New Order and George Michael.

Alongside these era-defining tracks is the beautiful original scoring by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Last Duel, Shrek, Mulan and Kingdom Of Heaven) who is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and prolific composers. Here, Gregson-Williams focuses mainly on the different phases in the relationship between Patricia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci which, he says: “encapsulates the emotional peaks and troughs that the two main characters experience.”

Also featured is another of Italy’s beloved heroes, Luciano Pavarotti, performing with Dame Joan Sutherland in an extract from the Italian opera ‘La Traviata,’ by Verdi.

Available from Decca the official soundtrack album is the Summer album we’ve all been waiting for.
