HOURS

What should be the happiest day of Nolan’s life, when his pregnant wife goes in to labor, quickly spirals out of control when the birth goes tragically wrong and Hurricane Katrina ravages the hospital.
In Hours, Walker plays Nolan Hayes, a father to a newborn baby girl who fights to keep her alive in an evacuated and flooded hospital during the wake of hurricane Katrina. The film captivates the intensity that a man in Nolan Hayes’ dire situation would experience. The exhaustion, desperation, and hope that pulses within Walker’s character leads him to take action and fight with his life to keep his daughter alive as he races against time.
This will be Eric Heisserer’s directorial debut and starring alongside Walker (Fast & the Furious) are Genesis Rodriguez (Identity Thief), Nick Gomez (Looper) and Judd Lormand (The Hunger Games). Hours was mostly filmed in a former New Orleans hospital and coupled with Benjamin Wallfisch’s musical score, lends itself to the authenticity of the film’s atmosphere.
As Variety simply puts it “[Hours] is consistently engrossing…Paul Walker capably and compellingly rises to the demands of the role. [He] gracefully balances the drama on his shoulders.”
“What I’ve found recently is the heart, the soul, whatever you want to call it, it doesn’t differentiate,” Walker said in his interview with USA Today about his work on Hours. “If you really live the experience making a movie, it’s the same as living it in real life, as crazy as it sounds. My victory in that movie was my victory in real life.”
