Moon Man

Available on DVD, Download & On-Demand From 21st APRIL 2014

The magical, heartfelt story of the Moon Man lands on DVD, Download and On-Demand this April. Based on the much-loved children’s book by Tomi Ungerer, Moon Man is an unmissable experience for all ages, both young and old.

The man on the moon is bored. One day, he hitches a ride to Earth on the tails of a passing comet — an “attack from outer space” that sets alarm bells ringing in the President of Earth’s headquarters — and starts to explore the fantastical creatures and sights of a new planet. But all is not well — the Moon Man’s absence from his post means that all the world’s children are unable to sleep. Before the President can capture him, they must join forces to return him to his rightful place in the sky.

Lively, vibrant, fun and exciting this feature length animation is the new film from the Oscar® nominated producers of The Secret of Kells, Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon. Speaking about Writer/Director Stephan Schesch’s adaptation of his work for the big screen, Tomi Ungerer said: “I consider myself truly privileged for having met such creative minds who respected both my life and my work.” An acclaimed children’s writer and illustrator, Ungerer is the recipient of the international Hans Christian Andersen Award. He has published over 140 books and his works have been translated into over 28 languages. His most recent children’s book Fog Island was voted one of the New York

Times’ Top 10 best illustrated books of 2013. Producer of Moon Man Paul Young from Cartoon Saloon, commented: “Tomi Ungerer is an inspiration to artists the world over and his books for children have been celebrated for generations for their intelligent, entertaining stories and original characters”

Having played at cinemas across the country, the Home Entertainment release in April will take you further into Moon Man’s beautiful animated world, with the DVD release featuring some exciting additional features including a ‘Moon Mural’ featurette and a Kids Activity sheet. Moon Man will also be available across a range of digital platforms/formats, meaning everyone in your family can choose to follow Moon Man’s adventures across a range of devices, whenever and wherever you want to.
