Rooftop Cinema Sensations

Get ready to raise the roof, or at least sit on it. Yup, Summer is here, which means that the Outdoor Cinema Season is upon us. This year, those of us wanting to soak up a favourite film under the (we hope) clear blue skies can enjoy more of the good stuff at Somerset House, Camden’s Backyard Cinema, Dalston’s Roof Garden and at various pop up venues in the Royal Parks (Luna Cinema) and on canals (Floating Cinema) all over town.

And the good news for South Londoners is that the latest Rooftop Cinema event is in their own back yard.

The Croydon Creative are the guys behind Croydon’s newest and only rooftop cinema and bar space, The Lost Format Society. Relax in style on comfy deck chairs and feast upon delicious street food and a selection of cocktails and beers as you enjoy some of the greatest movies known to man.

From August 6th The Lost Format Society will show a series of cult classics through to the latest critically acclaimed releases, from The Big Lebowski, to The Goonies to Birdman, there is a genre to suit every mood. Located on the top floor of NCP Dingwall Road Car Park, there will be street food from traders on rotation plus a rooftop bar.

Wireless headphones, blankets and ponchos will be provided so you can watch your movie in comfort no matter the weather. It is the British Summer after all. Open from 13:00 on the weekends, you can come and grab some mid-afternoon lunch or check out our schedule of activities at this secret garden space.

Farouk Deen, Co-Founder of The Croydon Creative said: “We were brought up here and understand Croydon’s heritage. We have been lucky enough to work with the local council in order to build this project and we’re excited to see progress already being made in the area with the BoxPark and Westfield heading our way. The Lost Format Society ( is our way of contributing to the regeneration, to revitalise the area and strengthen the community.”
