Scarlett Johansson For Ghost In The Shell

Having more than proved her action credentials with her role as Black Widow for Marvel as well as last year’s Lucy it looks as if Scarlett Johansson is set to continue kicking butt with her latest role.  The rumour is that Scarlett Johansson has now committed to playing the lead in DreamWorks adaptation of manga comic Ghost In The Shell.

The story would see Johansson as a cyborg cop accompanied by her partner in tracking down a hacker in 2029 known as The Puppet Master.  The story has been adapted into an animation to huge cult status back in 1995.

Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is set to call the shots on the new adaptation and feels like a good fit for Sanders who proved with Huntsman he’s got a flair for the visually interesting.  Head of DreamWorks Steven Spielberg has long stated he is a huge fan of the original Ghost In The Shell and has been anxious to get a live action version going for some time.

Before that Johansson will next be seen back in her Black Widow guise for Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron.  Source – The Hollywood Reporter
