The Greatest Story Ever Told Unboxing

George Stevens’ 4-hour biblical epic is a charming throwback to the Golden Age of filmmaking. The cast is a who’s-who of Hollywood royalty, with everyone from Charlton Heston and John Wayne to Sidney Poitier and Donald Pleasence, fronted by an incredible Max von Sydow as Jesus. The cinematography is majestic, bringing the rich holy imagery of the source material to life. Everything in the film’s production oozes old-fashioned, epic Hollywood filmmaking. While its runtime may be a little indulgent and its cast arguably too overwhelming, The Greatest Story Ever Told is perfect for a cosy Sunday afternoon. A new Blu-ray release from Capelight Pictures marks the film’s HD debut in the UK, and the beautiful Mediabook packaging is befitting of the film’s lavish production values.

Synopsis
