Screenwriters’ Festival. The annual event, held
each October, is the biggest gathering in Europe of screenwriters,
filmmakers, actors and agents.

With over 70
guest speakers representing the entire strata of film and TV in 2011, the festival
promises to deliver a dynamic experience that will improve the work of all
writers in attendance as well as develop a stronger and more sustainable
industry for the future.

This
October, heavyweights like ITV commissioner Elaine Bedell,
TV showrunner Ashley Pharoah and film producing legend “Love
Actually’s” Duncan Kenworthy will join a host of other
guests including script editor Kate Leys; Filmmaker
and Artist Sam Taylor-Wood; writer and director Jonathan
Newman
; hot new film maker Julian Gilbey
writer and director of this years much talked about nail biting thriller ‘A
Lonely Place To Die’
and one quarter of ‘The League Of
Gentlemen’,
comedy scriptwriter Jeremy
Dyson
and oh so many more.

The London
Screenwriters’ Festival are also
delighted to announce the renowned Hollywood story consultant Christopher
Vogler, author of the acclaimed “Hero’s Journey”, will be opening the festival
with an exclusive keynote speech. In addition Christopher will also be running
a special extended session during the festival.

A key part
of the festival is practical help for delegates to get connected and get their
work “out there”. Speed Pitching and Speed Networking with producers, agents
and sales agents ensure that writers will get face to face time with possible
collaborators, delivering on our promise of ‘connecting talent’. Above all, the
London Screenwriters Festival will be a celebration of the extraordinary art
and craft of writing.

Marcia Degia has worked in the media industry for more than 10 years. She was previously Acting Managing Editor of Homes and Gardens magazine, Publishing Editor at Macmillan Publishers and Editor of Pride Magazine. Marcia, who has a Masters degree in Screenwriting, has also been involved in many broadcast projects. Among other things, she was the devisor of the documentary series Secret Suburbia for Living TV.
