The season of love is upon us and venues across the country have thoughtfully taken the worry of organising a great Valentine’s Day off your hands with a series of screenings and special events to bring out the Casanova in you.

Not only will London’s Southbank
be lit to perfection this special February evening but the BFI will be hosting five carefully chosen screenings for romantics
across the city. Fred Zinnemann’s From Here to Eternity, starring Frank Sinatra and Burt Lancaster will be starting off the evening, with Lancaster and
Deborah Kerr’s infamous surf based
frolics setting the tone for night. You can also enjoy multi Oscar winning A Place in the Sun starring Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift, or Andrew Haigh’s award winning Weekend, which follows two men battling
with commitment after a one night stand.

On February the 13th take yourself along to the United Reformed Church in North London
for a unique screening of Sunrise: A
Song of Two Humans. Winner of 3 Oscars at the first ever Academy Awards in
1929, this silent film will be accompanied by a live improvised score played by
pianist Costas Fotopoulos. A story
of a peaceful marriage disrupted by a seductress from the city, the film will
be introduced by Editor of Silent London
and Features Production Editor for The Guardian Pamela Hutchinson.

Valentine’s Day at Tyneside
cinema and the night is in your hands, as they are holding a poll for you to
vote for your favourite romantic film 2013, which will be shown on February 14th.

Last submissions will be taken at 5pm on January the 31st, and the
winner will be announced on the 5th. If that’s not enough, free
chocolate is handed out at the film on the night.
Ealing are leading the way this month with a whole festival
dedicated to the day. The Ealing Music
and Film Valentine Festival will run from the 14th to the 17th
of February, and includes tours of the renowned Ealing Studio, a focus on Stanley Kubrick for an afternoon of
talking heads and enough live music to charm the pants off your loved one.

For Holly Golightly wannabes,the Picturehouse in Cambridge are putting on a very special screen of Audrey Hepburn classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Main picture). As well as
immersing yourself in the world of our favourite socialite and her pet puss,
Hotel Chocolat will be hosting a free chocolate tasting prior to the film.
