Rosamund Pike Dives Into The Deep Blue Good-By

Having recently garnered an Oscar Nomination for her role in Gone Girl it seems Rosamund Pike is into her literary adaptations as she’s set to dive into John D. MacDonald’s The Deep Blue Good-By.  With Christian Bale already onboard to star as protagonist Travis McGee and James Mangold set to direct the project is fast coming together.

The Deep Blue Good-By is just the first of 21 novels MacDonald penned with McGee as his leading man so studio 20th Century Fox will be hoping this one is successful in order to spawn a long running franchise. McGee is a salvage consultant in Florida who only works when the money runs out and will find anything so long as he gets to keep half of whatever he finds.  Pike will play the female lead in the script which as had input from Dennis Lehane and Scott Frank.

Before all that though Pike will be seen in thriller Return To Sender and is also set to star in The Mountains Between Us but that one needs better weather before shooting can commence.  She’ll be heard even sooner though as she lends her voice to that of Lady Penelope in the new incarnation of Thunder Birds.  Source – Variety
